How to Connect an Exchange Account to Delta

Learn how to easily link your cryptocurrency exchanges to Delta for automatic portfolio syncing and tracking.

Written by Advait

Every user can connect up to two different exchange accounts for free, while Delta PRO subscribers unlock the ability to connect an unlimited number of exchanges. Setting up your API details takes just a couple of minutes and will keep your portfolio perfectly in sync.

Here is exactly how to link your exchange account to Delta.

Steps to Connect an Exchange

  1. Navigate to the specific portfolio where you want to add the exchange connection. (Keep in mind that exchange connections are tied to individual portfolios).

  2. Tap the circle with the '+' (plus) sign and select Connect Exchange Account.

  3. Choose the exchange you would like to connect to.

  4. Fill out the API credentials. If you need help finding your keys, tap the '?' icon in the top right corner for exchange-specific instructions. (Note: Some exchanges like Coinbase use a direct authorization login instead of asking for API keys).

  5. Enter your API Key, Secret, and/or Passphrase as required by the exchange.

  6. Configure your import settings and add the connection.

Understanding Your Import Settings

When adding your connection, you must select exactly how Delta should import your data. Please choose carefully, as these settings cannot be edited once the connection is added.

  • Import withdrawals/deposits (Default: ON): This ensures your crypto and fiat deposits or withdrawals are tracked. Disabling this may result in inaccurate holdings unless you manually account for your transfers elsewhere.

  • Import Timeframe (Required): You must select how far back Delta should look:

    • Import all transactions: Pulls your entire trading history as far back as the exchange API allows. (Note: Some exchanges restrict history and will not let us go back to your very first trade, limiting imports to the last 7, 30, or 90 days).

    • Import all transactions since date: Skips transactions before a specific date you choose.

    • Import new transactions only: Ignores your past history and only imports new trades moving forward. This is perfect if you have already manually logged your past trades!

    • Import balances only: Creates a single transaction reflecting your current holdings without importing the actual trade history.

  • Remove existing transactions (Default: OFF): If you already manually added trades for this exchange, turning this ON will overwrite your manual entries in the selected timeframe with the newly imported API data to prevent duplicate transactions.

  • Notify me of future transactions (PRO): Delta will send you a push notification whenever a new trade is automatically imported from this connection.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

  • Your Keys are Safe: Your API keys are stored securely on your local device and are never sent to our servers. Because of this extra layer of security, your API keys will not sync between your other devices, though the imported trades themselves will sync perfectly.

  • Syncing Delays: If you see a "Stuck waiting in Queue" error, simply tap the circular arrows next to the connection and keep the app open until the sync completes. The very first sync can take up to 15 minutes to pull in a large trading history.

  • Exchange API Limitations: Not all exchanges provide perfect data via their APIs. If your imported balance seems slightly off, it may be due to an exchange API limitation hiding specific transactions. You will need to manually enter any missing transactions.
