How can I remove a Connection?

Removing Wallet, Exchange and Broker Connections in Delta

Written by Advait

To disconnect or remove a connection in Delta (whether it is an exchange, a wallet, or a broker connection) you must delete it through the app's settings menu.

Here is the step-by-step process to permanently remove your connection:

  1. Open the Sidebar by swiping from the left side of the screen or tapping the hamburger menu located in the top left corner.

  2. Tap on the Settings icon, which is the gear icon located at the top right of the sidebar.

  3. Select Connections.

  4. Tap on the specific connection that you wish to delete to open its details.

  5. Tap on the "3 dot menu" in the top left corner of the screen and choose "Delete connection".

Choosing to KEEP or REMOVE Transactions

When you initiate the deletion of a connection, Delta will prompt you to make a crucial decision regarding the transaction history imported by that API or wallet. You will be asked if you want to KEEP or REMOVE those transactions.

  • KEEP: If you select this option, the connection will be successfully deleted and will no longer import any future transactions. However, all the historical transactions that were previously imported by that connection will remain in your portfolio exactly as they are. If you decide to re-add this exact connection at a later date, Delta is smart enough to recognize the kept data and will not duplicate the transactions that were already imported.

  • REMOVE: If you select this option, the app will completely wipe ALL transactions that were added by that specific connection. It is highly important to note that this action is strictly irreversible. For exchange connections specifically, if you had the "Remove existing transactions" setting turned on when you first added the connection, choosing to REMOVE the connection now will also restore the manual transactions that were initially overwritten. This effectively acts as an undo button, allowing the process of adding exchange connections to be completely reversible if you are unhappy with how the import affected your portfolio.

Important Considerations When Disconnecting

  • Manual Edits Will Be Overwritten Upon Re-Connection: If you make manual edits to transactions that were imported by an automated connection, and then you delete that connection, re-adding the connection in the future will overwrite your manual edits with the raw API data again. To prevent this from happening, a good workaround is to configure the connection to only import transactions after a certain date when adding the connection back into Delta.

  • Deleting Assets vs. Disconnecting: Simply deleting an asset from your portfolio does not disconnect the active API connection. The connection will continue to sync in the background, and it will likely bring the deleted asset and its transactions back into your portfolio during the next sync if the balance still exists on the exchange or broker side. To fully stop an asset from returning, you must disconnect the connection entirely or remove the asset directly on the exchange or broker's platform.

  • Irreversible Transaction Deletion: Please be highly cautious when choosing the "REMOVE" option. Because deleting transactions is a permanent action, neither you nor the Delta support team will be able to recover them. If you make a mistake, you will need to manually fix your portfolio by re-entering the transactions yourself.
